I currently support Directory Services related technologies, such as Active Directory, Kerberos Authentication, Certificates Services and Group Policy.  Before working at Microsoft, I worked in Corporate Information Security at Wachovia.  In that role I was both responsible for maintianing security for the ATM enviroment and for consulting on various internal projects to ensure that corprate and industry security standards were satisfied.  Before joining Wachovia I worked as a Government Contractor supporting a government agencies’ VPN and PKI implementation.

 

Windows 7 and Windows 2008 R2 Security Features

My presentation will cover security related features included in Windows 7 and Windows 2008 R2, which include:

·         Changes to User Account Control (UAC)

·         Enhanced Auditing (Granular Auditing)

·         Network Access Protection

·         Direct Access

·         AppLocker

·         Internet Explorer 8

·         BitLocker

·         Bitlocker to Go

·         NTLM Blocking

I will give a brief explanation of each of these technologies, as well as perform DEMOS for:

·         Enhanced Auditing

·         AppLocker

·         BitLocker to Go

 

Designing a Public Key Infrastructure

My presentation will cover the reasons to and the design considerations of deploying a Public Key Infrastructure.  I will discuss important business considerations, such as cost and automation, associated with the deployment of PKI.  Other related topics include the type of CA hierarchy deployed and certification validation. Furthermore, my presentation will address methods to increase the security of the PKI deployment.  Finally, I will cover enrollment scenarios that include a new enrollment scenario using Web Services based enrollment.
